Perelló Rodríguez, who begins a visit to Morocco on Monday, highlighted, in an interview with MAP, the role of economic players and civil society in deepening cooperation between the two nations.
"The visit to Morocco is part of Casa Mediterráneo’s mission to establish synergies with various economic actors in Morocco and to further solidify this strategic partnership," he said.
Casa Mediterráneo aims to actively contribute to building lasting collaborative ties with institutional, economic, and civil society actors in both Morocco and Spain, with the goal of organizing cultural and business forums in 2025, Perelló Rodríguez noted.
Emphasizing the critical role of both countries in ensuring regional stability and prosperity, the Spanish official pointed out that Morocco and Spain share "not only a national neighborhood but also a continental one."
"We are the gateway to Africa and Europe, which reinforces our responsibility and commitment to maintaining very good relations."
Casa Mediterráneo, he continued, operates beyond official diplomacy to promote dialogue and mutual understanding among the peoples of the Mediterranean, highlighting their cultures, heritage, and gastronomy, while fostering the principles of mutual respect and good neighborliness.
Morocco’s participation last September as the guest of honor at the 6th Alicante Gastronomic Fair (southeast Spain) illustrates the strength of the privileged relations between the two countries, he noted, underscoring the cultural and culinary similarities between the two kingdoms.
Founded in 2009, Casa Mediterráneo is a public diplomacy institution whose primary goal is to promote the exchange of knowledge and to strengthen Spain's ties with other Mediterranean countries in various fields such as culture, economy, climate change, gender equality, and scientific and technological innovation.
