"Morocco, always a reliable, available and serious partner, is considered as a pillar of stability and prosperity in Europe in terms of regional security," Varhelyi underlined at a press briefing following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
Deeming the partnership with Morocco as not only "positive" but also, and above all, "indispensable", the European Commissioner praised the actions carried out jointly with the Kingdom, recalling the EU’s reforms undertaken under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
"In my opinion, we now need to redouble our efforts to figure out feasible solutions" to overcome the difficulties in a "short" time, he stressed, expressing his institution's readiness to "work together."
"We are committed to all the achievements we have made together with Morocco, and we would like to extend them," he stated.
Varhelyi also reviewed the actions carried out jointly with Morocco, particularly for the success of the comprehensive reform of the Kingdom's social security project, highlighting the commitment of the European side.
On this occasion, the European Commissioner announced the forthcoming signature of an agreement aimed at supporting the populations affected by the earthquake and post-earthquake construction.
