Earlier, border control and search operations, conducted with the help of the police dog squad, led to seizing 155,703 “Ecstasy” tablets, concealed in specially equipped holes inside the cab of a truck from a European country, the same source said in a press release.
Ongoing search and investigations helped seize additional shipments of psychotropic drugs carefully concealed in the vehicle's engine cooling system, bringing the total of seized psychotropic substances to 188,102 tablets, the same source added.
The truck driver and his assistant, both Moroccan nationals aged 41 and 44, were taken into custody as part of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office, with the aim of identifying all individuals linked to this case and unravelling potential national and international connections.
