The ceremony, where MAP was represented by its Director General Fouad Arif, in the presence of Moroccan Ambassador to Madrid Karima Benyaich, was attended by several senior Spanish officials, including Minister of Youth and Children Sira Rego, Minister of Equality Ana Redondo, as well as several ambassadors accredited to Spain.
The guest list also included prominent figures from the spheres of arts and culture, economics, politics, and media.
A photography exhibition showcasing the history and achievements of the Spanish news agency, as well as major events that shaped the recent world history was held for the occasion.
A heartfelt tribute was also paid to victims of the recent flooding that affected eastern and southern Spain.
Speaking at the event, EFE's President Miguel Ángel Oliver stressed the "strategic" nature of the agency, underscoring its expertise in combating disinformation through its EFE Verifica service.
MAP and EFE are linked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded on February 2, 2024, in Rabat, aimed at strengthening their cooperation, namely in content sharing and the execution of specific projects.
As part of this partnership, training sessions were held in October in both Rabat and Madrid for a group of sports journalists from MAP.
