Upon his arrival at the King Khalid International Airport, Akhannouch was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Abdulaziz, Vice-Governor of the Riyadh region.
The Head of Government will be accompanied during this Summit, scheduled for Monday at the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
The Moroccan delegation notably includes Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Mohamed Ait Ouali, the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mustapha Mansouri, as well as senior diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had called for the Summit to examine developments in the region, in light of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon, and its repercussions on regional security and stability, as well as to coordinate positions among member States.
This Summit, which follows on from the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit held on November 11, 2023 in Riyadh, was preceded by the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Extraordinary Summit, with the participation of Arab and Islamic member States, including Morocco.
