During a meeting with the mayor of Palermo, Roberto Lagalla, ways of strengthening territorial cooperation and exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of urban management were examined, particularly in terms of Smart-city.
On this occasion, Lagalla expressed his “admiration” for the lprogress achieved by the Kingdom in various sectors, praising the contribution of the Moroccan community in Palermo, which has become a model of integration and a human bridge between Sicily and Morocco.
In this context, the two officials reviewed several cooperation projects in prospect, notably the twinning between the cities of Palermo and Tangier.
Balla also held talks with the Vice-President of the Sicilian regional parliament Luisa Annunziata Lantieri.
Seizing the opportunity, Lantieri warmly welcomed the Kingdom's stability and its role in strengthening the Mediterranean partnership.
In this context, she pointed out that Morocco and Sicily intersect regarding this Mediterranean vocation, and are called upon to combine their efforts to bolster the Mediterranean dimension of bilateral relations.
The two officials then discussed ways of strengthening parliamentary relations, notably by scheduling exchanges of visits, reviving the memorandum of understanding between the two legislative institutions, and setting up a Morocco-Italy parliamentary friendship group.
