Upon her arrival at the equestrian village, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was welcomed by Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, President of the Royal Moroccan Equestrian Federation, before reviewing a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces who made the honors.
HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa was then greeted by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Qatar’s Ambassador to Rabat, Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Younes Shimi, the President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, Faïçal Laraïchi, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Governor of the Rabat prefecture, Mohamed Yacoubi, the President of the regional council of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Rachid El Abdi, the President of the Rabat municipal council, Fatiha El Moudni, and the President of the Rabat prefectural council, Abdelaziz Derouiche.
Her Royal Highness was also greeted by Adel El Fakir, Director General of the National Airports Authority and Commissioner General of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, Sheikh Fahad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Head of Office of H.E Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, H.E. Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Museum, Jan Tops, Chairman of the Global Champions Tour and Urs Schiendorfer, Longines Global Consultant for Equestrian Sports.
Subsequently, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa proceeded to the VIP lounge to follow the final round of this prestigious show jumping event.
At the end of this competition, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa presented the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Trophy (2024 edition) to Austrian Max Kühner, who clinched the first spot after 15 rounds of this international circuit, followed by Christian Kukuk (Germany) and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (Germany).
Her Royal Highness then posed for a souvenir photo with the three winners.
On this occasion, the awards were also presented to the grooms who joined the winners on the podium.
Regarding the show jumping Grand Prix of the final stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour, which took place in Rabat, it was won by Spanish rider Eduardo Alvarez Aznar, advancing Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson and German rider Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann.
After iconic cities such as Paris, New York, Monaco and Riyadh, the famous equestrian show jumping competition, Longines Global Champions Tour 2024, was held for the very first time in Rabat, Morocco, from October 18 to 20.
This worldwide renowned event, which was held for the first time in Africa, is part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture which, initiated by "Years of Culture". This testifies to the deep and strong historical ties between the two brotherly peoples and the two Heads of State, HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and HH Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani.
Hosting this show jumping circuit in Rabat carries significant symbolic value, given Morocco's deep historical connection to the horse - a revered creature embedded in the Kingdom's cultural heritage.
