In statements to MAP upon their release from the local prison of Ain Aicha (province of Taounate), these prisoners also expressed their willingness to contribute to the success of this new policy directly involving the populations of the affected areas, particularly in the province of Taounate.
"I can now legally cultivate cannabis and contribute to the socio-economic development of my region and my country," said Ahmed, originally from Ketama and one of the beneficiaries of this generous Royal initiative, which according to all observers, reflects not only a great sense of humanism and deep compassion but also great wisdom in resolving complex issues related to social and economic justice.
This is also a gesture of great humanistic significance aimed at ending the negative repercussions of illicit cannabis cultivation, particularly on small farmers, by offering them legitimate livelihood opportunities.
For Abdeslam, another beneficiary, this Royal Pardon adds to the many humanitarian initiatives regularly taken by the Sovereign for the benefit of His loyal people, especially for disadvantaged social groups.
"Thank you to His Majesty the King, who is always attentive to His people's needs and concerns," he said before rejoining his small family in Ghafsai.
In this context, this Pardon is not only a legal decision but also the embodiment of an inclusive societal vision that calls for the integration of citizens facing economic and social challenges. It also reaffirms the collective commitment to providing integration opportunities by strengthening social justice and improving the living conditions of the most disadvantaged.
The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon also took this opportunity to pay tribute to the actions taken by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the reintegration of prisoners.
"Thanks to this Foundation, we learned trades that will allow us to earn a decent living," said Rachid, also from Ketama. He also noted that his release "will bring much joy" to his elderly and sick mother.
Of the 4,831 people who benefited from this Royal Pardon, 1,341 are from the province of Taounate, including 45 in detention, 1,083 in freedom, and 213 individuals wanted by authorities.
This Royal Pardon was also met with great satisfaction by all the inhabitants of the province, who expressed their deep thanks and gratitude to the Sovereign.
