In a statement to MAP, Mrabit, former Director of Nuclear Safety and Security at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noted that effective management of the problem of water scarcity and lack of rainfall, according to the royal vision, rests on three fundamental elements.
The first, he explained, concerns good governance to ensure the supply of this vital resource to the population, through the completion of the dam construction program, the interconnection of water basins with a regular flow with those suffering from a significant water deficit, and the acceleration of the construction of seawater desalination plants.
The second element, according to Mrabit, is to ensure the convergence of the interventions of the various government departments (agriculture, energy, economy and investment) in order to ensure the success of the policies and programs adopted and to guarantee optimum management of water resources.
As for the third element, it provides for the construction of seawater desalination plants based on clean and renewable energies, as an important lever for strengthening water and food security, underlined the former Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR).
