"The Royal Speech, a true roadmap for water management in Morocco, reflects the Sovereign's constant commitment to this vital resource, which is a guarantee of sustainable development for the Kingdom", he told MAP.
El Ouidadi stressed the historic importance of this speech, recalling the efforts made at HM the King's Impetus to tackle the shortage of rainfall and better manage the country's water resources.
He noted that the Royal guidelines adressed the importance of building dams, particularly in regions with high rainfall, and speeding up desalination plant projects, citing the Casablanca plant, the largest in Africa, as an example.
His Majesty the King's speech also highlighted the crucial link between these water projects and developing renewable energies, he added.
"HM the King also recalled the importance of a legal arsenal, in particular the water police, to ensure better governance of water resources", El Ouidadi continued.
"This Royal farsightedness will strengthen Morocco against challenges of climate change, ensuring the country's drinking water supply and food security", he concluded.
