Signed by Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, and Minister of Digital Economy of the Republic of Djibouti, Mariem Hamdoun Toure, on the sidelines of Gitex Africa, this MoU, which is intended as a new milestone in South-South cooperation, marks an important step in the strengthening of diplomatic relations and the joint development of digital public policies in the two countries.
Through this MoU, the two parties commit to collaborate on exchanges of best practices and feedback on digital public policies, hold exchange sessions and seminars to discuss successes and challenges, and study the establishment of collaborative mechanisms to facilitate ongoing dialogue and evaluation of digital policies, according to a press release from the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.
Key areas of cooperation include digital skills, digital infrastructure, innovation and digital entrepreneurship, e-government and digital public services, and cybersecurity.
To ensure effective implementation of the MoU, a bilateral coordination committee will be set up to oversee the implementation of cooperation activities, and to hold$* periodic meetings to assess progress and identify new opportunities. Pilot projects and joint initiatives will also be defined and launched to test and evaluate cooperation initiatives, said the same source.
This MoU, which is part of a drive to build capacity, pool resources and provide mutual support for the achievement of sustainable development goals, formalizes the cooperation between the two countries, based on their long-standing diplomatic relations and shared vision of technological innovation.
By focusing on innovation and knowledge sharing, this MoU opens up new prospects for inclusive and sustainable economic and social development on the continent, the Ministry concluded.
