The inauguration took place on the sidelines of the 44th session of the Executive Council and the 37th Summit of the AU, at a grandiose ceremony attended by Foreign ministers of African Countries, the Vice-Chairwoman of the AU Commission, Commissioners of the Union, senior officials of the pan-African organization, several personalities and members of the diplomatic corps, as well as the media.
Set up in the large exhibition hall at the AU headquarters, this fountain reflects the authenticity of Moroccan craftsmanship through its flagship, Zellij.
Thanks to the art of Zellij, intricate patterns of cut tiles, Moroccan craftsmen have achieved their most sophisticated expression of precision, spatial geometry and aesthetics, emphasized project architect Mohammed Kamal Bedraoui, and Zouhair Kabbaj of "Kazo designer§build", responsible for creating this masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship.
The fountain set up in front of the Grande salle Nelson Mandela is self-sufficient insofar as it benefits from photovoltaic panels powered by batteries.
“We opted for a green solution that requires no energy other than solar power,” stressed the project architect.
