"In collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, and in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office, Ryanair is poised to elevate its growth in Morocco significantly. The airline aims to expand its current annual traffic from 4.5 million passengers to more than 10 million by 2027," stated the ministry in a press release.
The airline's strategy in Morocco, starting from summer 2024, centers on three primary areas: the introduction of 24 new international routes, the allocation of 2 dedicated aircraft to Tangier, and the launch of internal routes linking 9 Moroccan cities.
"This remarkable development heralds a significant phase for Moroccan aviation, contributing to the Tourism roadmap, targeting 17.5 million tourists by 2026. This endeavor places particular emphasis on domestic tourism, set to gain substantial momentum through this vibrant initiative," said Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, quoted in the press release.
Within this expansive project, Ryanair will receive government authorization to operate specific domestic connections between Moroccan cities.
"Through this new collaboration, our country continues to benefit from its open skies policy," emphasized for his part, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil.
