"In Morocco, the private sector's mobilization on climate change is materialized by deeds and not just words," he said at a COP28 Side-event, held Sunday in Dubai by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
Aware at an early stage of the challenges associated with climate change for businesses, and having identified the potential opportunities generated by these constraints, the Moroccan employers' association has dedicated three of its 18 commissions to this issue for over 20 years, he said, noting that the aim is to accelerate the climate action momentum underway and offer Moroccan businesses useful and effective tools to make a success of their green transition.
He recalled that in 2006, the CGEM launched its CSR Label, which recognizes the social and environmental commitment of Moroccan companies and promotes their mobilization in favor of sustainable development and solidarity.
Alj also cited the development of the CGEM Decarbonization Guide, which aims to support Moroccan companies in all phases of their decarbonization process by providing accurate information, measures and assistance.
In addition, he noted, the CGEM and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection have been collaborating for many years on programs and projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, notably through capacity building and training, citing the Qualit'Air Charter, a voluntary commitment by companies to measure, reduce and offset GHG emissions.
