Prefaced by President Macky Sall, the book takes a retrospective, introspective and prospective look at Senegalese diplomacy at the crossroads of international relations.
This book (238 pages) published by Harmattan Senegal outlines the benchmarks of the rich Senegalese diplomacy in its constants adjusted to multiple international issues.
The book highlights the fundamentals of Senegalese diplomacy, namely pan-Africanism, balance, good neighborly diplomacy, peace and security promotion, defense of human rights and the diversification of partners, Ambassador Amadou Diop, former diplomatic advisor to the president, current diplomatic advisor to the President of the National Assembly of Senegal, said.
In his analysis, the author highlights the centuries-old partnership between Morocco and Senegal, emphasizing the exceptional relations between the two countries.
Thus, he notes that these exceptional relations have established themselves as a model of strong South-South cooperation at all levels, welcoming, in this regard, the actions and initiatives undertaken by HM King Mohammed VI and President Macky Sall serving the strengthening of centuries-old ties between Morocco and Senegal.
In his book, the author recalls that relations between Senegal and Morocco date back at least to the 11th century when the Almoravids arrived on the banks of Saint-Louis, adding that they take the form of multilayer relations between the peoples of the two countries.
"This deep and friendly historical Senegalese-Moroccan blend has permanently crated an exceptional cooperation, driven by late King Hassan II and President Senghor, deepened with President Diouf, consolidated by HM King Mohammed VI and President Wade, propelled by President Sall," he says.
He emphasizes that Senegal and Morocco have promoted relations in all sectors, with several agreements in a number of areas, including banking, finance and insurance, construction, higher education and scientific research, executive training, military training, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, livestock and fishing as well as agri-food, health, transport, mines and housing.
Diop notes that the speech delivered by Sheikh Abdoul Aziz Dabagh Sy before late King Hassan II and late President Léopold Sédar Senghor during the inauguration of the Great Mosque of Dakar in 1964 is engraved in the collective Senegalese-Moroccan memory as it translated everything that connects the two peoples since the dawn of time.
On the diplomatic level, Diop affirms that "Senegal has been the most faithful ally, the most determined and the most constant advocate of defending the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara both de facto and de jure, in a historical, civilizational and sociological cradle ".
