Morocco Routs Indonesia to Advance to FIFA U-17 World Cup’s Round of 16

Surabaya (Indonesia) - Morocco's Under-17 football team advanced to the round of 16 of FIFA U-17 World Cup after besting Indonesia 3-1 in the third group game, held Thursday at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya (Indonesia).

   The Atlas Lion Cubs’ goals were scored by Anas Alaoui (P, 29th), Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal (38th) and Mohamed Hamony (64th), while Muhammad Nabil Asyura scored the only goal for hosts Indonesia (42nd). 

   Thanks to their victory against Indonesia and the 1-1 tie between Panama and Ecuador, the Atlas Lion Cubs finished the group stage at top of group A with 6 points, ahead of Ecuador (5 points), Indonesia and Panama (2 pts each).

   Morocco's Under-17 football team successfully kicked off their journey in the 2023 World Cup, besting Panama 2-0, before losing to Ecuador (0-2) in the second game and finishing in style with a convincing victory against hosts Indonesia.

   The Atlas Lion Cubs will play their round of 16 game on Tuesday at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
