Dakhla: Royal Navy Assists 189 Would-be Irregular Migrants (Military Source)

Rabat - Royal Navy units and coastal surveillance units assisted, in two separate operations on Monday, two pirogues in difficulty south of Dakhla, carrying 189 Senegalese would-be irregular migrants, including 18 women and 29 minors, as well as 3 bodies, as part of search and rescue missions, military sources said.

The two pirogues, which set sail from the Senegalese coast on October 2 and 17, 2023 respectively, were bound for the Canary Islands, according to the same source.

The rescued people received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures, the same source stressed, noting that the three bodies were handed over to the Civil Protection for transfer to the morgue of the Hassan II Hospital in Dakhla.
