Speaking at a panel discussion entitled "Africa: The innovation engine", held on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Fettah highlighted Morocco's ambitious initiatives to promote innovation and technology.
After citing the "Innov Invest" program launched by her department in partnership with the WB, which has enabled the development of a complete and balanced ecosystem to support start-ups both technically and financially, the Minister called for concerted efforts to take full advantage of innovation and technology.
"We need to step up our efforts to develop more favorable environments for the emergence and growth of innovative companies," she said, pleading for the mobilization of substantial financial resources for innovation, particularly in the private sector.
Beyond the financial aspect, Fettah stressed the importance of technical assistance, capacity building and the promotion of an entrepreneurial culture among young people.
Referring to the African dimension of innovation and technology, the Minister highlighted the need to strengthen dialogue and promote the sharing of knowledge and experience between countries on the continent, with the aim of better directing efforts.
"The potential for technological development and innovation in Africa is considerable. We must seize this opportunity to unleash Africa's potential and energies, and put innovation at the service of our continent's development", she said.
