"It was a great pleasure to work together with the Moroccan authorities, who showed great commitment and determination," said Ogada on the "IMF Today" program, adding he was "pleasantly surprised by the quality of the event's infrastructure, which exudes the magic of Moroccan culture and art".
Organizing this event, he continued, "was not an easy task because of the pandemic". After the Al Haouz earthquake, said Ogada, the authorities wanted to move forward with the organization of the Assemblies and show Morocco's resilience and the confidence of the Bretton Woods institutions in the Kingdom.
He also stressed the importance of organizing such an event in Africa, a continent with a bright future, and more specifically in Morocco, which is a crossroads between Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
"It's also a way of showing that we take a great interest in the region and its priorities, 50 years after the last assemblies held on African soil", he stressed.
In an interview on the same program, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva described the organization of this major event as "extraordinary", which "enabled us to admire the hospitality and warm welcome of the Moroccan people", whose spirit of solidarity should guide the work of these Meetings as they tackle the various challenges that lie ahead.
