In an interview with MAP, Almeida Leite, who also serves as President of the "Club d'Africa," a prominent think tank based in Lisbon, noted that selecting Marrakech as the host for this international event sends a crucial signal from international institutions and the global political and financial community, particularly the G20 countries, expressing their confidence in Morocco.
He also remarked that hosting an event of this caliber underscores the "strength and resilience" demonstrated by Morocco following the Al Haouz earthquake, as well as the Kingdom's "determination and capacity" to continue organizing such high-level events.
According to Almeida Leite, Morocco's role as the host of these meetings confirms the extensive organizational and logistical experience that the Kingdom has gained in hosting international conferences and gatherings of this magnitude. He added that Moroccan tourism requires events of this nature to help restore the areas around Marrakech to their pre-earthquake splendor.
He also pointed out that this international financial event will focus on addressing some of the challenges facing the African continent. The Marrakech meetings will address the situation and challenges of this continent, which is grappling with conflicts in certain regions and food shortages in others.
