In addition to reinforcing health surveillance at borders and monitoring the health and environmental situation in bedbug-affected areas, the ministry has made available to citizens a series of recommendations and advice relating to international travel, accessible via the ministry's official website and its social media accounts, the press release underlined, adding that the event-based surveillance system has been activated for the early detection of any unusual health incident.
Therefore, the ministry calls on citizens not to be influenced by rumors that spread in such circumstances of health alert and not to exaggerate the assessment of the health risks linked to the introduction of these insects into the national territory.
While reassuring citizens, the ministry urges them to avoid purchasing second-hand mattresses, furniture or clothing from countries where a large spread of bedbugs has been recorded.
