The cell, made up of three people aged between 31 and 40, was preparing to carry out dangerous terrorist projects aimed at undermining the security and stability of the Kingdom, according to a BCIJ statement.
According to the initial investigation, the suspects had pledged allegiance to the alleged emir of the Daesh organization and were preparing to carry out destructive projects targeting vital and security installations, after having been involved in the material preparation of their projects through the determination of targets and the acquisition of information on the manufacture of explosives.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had attempted to forge links with other terrorist elements operating outside the Kingdom, with a view to coordinating with them to join one of the sections of the Daesh organization, particularly in the Sahel and Sahara region, immediately after the execution of the terrorist plans they intended to perpetrate in the Kingdom, the same source added.
The suspects were taken into custody to complete the judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent terrorism prosecutor's office, with the aim of determining all the terrorist projects, as well as the ramifications and possible links of this cell, which demonstrates once again the proliferation of terrorist dangers threatening the Kingdom, in the face of the determination of those imbued with extremist theses to respond to the subversive calls emanating from the terrorist organization Daesh.
