Upon their arrival at the Royal Golf Dar Es-Salam, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association, and HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, reviewed a section of the Auxiliary Forces that was performing the honors, before being greeted by the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, and the Minister of Tourism, Handicraft, Social Economy and Solidarity, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, as well as by other personalities.
Then, TRH Prince Moulay Rachid and Princess Lalla Meryem returned to the grandstand, where they were greeted by the CEO of the "Ladies European Tour", Alexandra Armas, the President of the PGA Champions Tour, Miller Brady, and the 1st vice-president of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, Mustapha Zine, before attending the end of the Hassan II Trophy competition.
Their Royal Highnesses then presented the Pro AM prize of the Hassan II Trophy to the team composed of Mourad Guezzar, Hatim El Kabbaj and Ali Benlamine.
Afterwards, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem gave the 2nd prize of the Lalla Meryem Cup to the Swedish Linn Grant. HRH Prince Moulay Rachid also gave the 2nd prize of the Hassan II Trophy to the Australian Mark Hensby.
After the announcement of the winners, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem handed over the Cup that bears her name to the winner of this 26th edition, the Swedish Maja Stark.
Thereafter, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid presented the Grand Prize of the Hassan II Trophy to the Canadian Stephen Ames, winner of this 47th edition.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of the Ladies European Tour, Alexandra Armas, praised the efforts made by Morocco for the development of women's golf, which are reflected in the organization of the Lalla Meryem Cup with the participation of the best female golfers worldwide.
Armas also welcomed the level reached by Moroccan women golfers, citing in particular Ines Laklalech, Maha Haddioui and the young player Sofia Cherif Essakali.
For his part, the president of the PGA Champions Tour, Miller Brady, thanked the players who took part in this event for their remarkable competitive spirit, since most of them participate in the largest tournaments.
Mr. Brady also praised the welcome given to the participants of the Hassan II Trophy and the Lalla Meryem Cup as well as the guests.
For his part, the 1st vice-president delegate of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, Mustapha Zine, said "today was an opportunity to celebrate the Canadian Stephen Ames, winner of the 47th Hassan II Trophy, as well as the Swedish Maja Stark, winner of the 26th Lalla Meryem Cup, two tournaments organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Mr. Zine added that the Hassan II Trophy, created thanks to the farsighted vision of the late HM Hassan II, is organized today under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, which reflects the will of the Kingdom to give more interest to golf, an economic lever that contributes to the dynamics of national development.
