"The official emblem of the FIFA Club World Cup (Morocco 2022) has been unveiled on the eve of the draw of the event, which will take place this Friday," writes the governing body of world soccer on its official website.
"The official emblem of this competition, which finds Morocco for the first time since 2014, symbolizes the prestige inherent in the highest level of world club soccer. It is inspired by the glittering trophy brandished each year by the world champion club," the same source continued.
The golden pedestal symbolizes the unshakeable foundations of soccer, while the curved navy blue stripes reflect the pillars of the trophy, which evoke the different continents represented, says FIFA.
The structure carries a golden ball, the embodiment of the glory that awaits the winners of the Club World Cup, notes FIFA.
The ceremony of the draw of this edition will take place this Friday at the Mohammed VI Complex of Football in Salé, from 12:00. The most capped player in the history of the Moroccan national team, Nourredine Naybet, will officiate as an assistant.
Seven clubs will participate in this edition, namely Wydad Casablanca, winner of the CAF Champions League 2021/22, Al Hilal SFC (Saudi Arabia), winner of the AFC Champions League 2021, Al Ahly of Egypt, finalist of the CAF Champions League and Seattle Sounders FC (USA), winner of the CONCACAF Champions League 2022.
Participants include also Brazil's CR Flamengo, winner of the Copa Libertadores 2022, Auckland City FC (New Zealand), winner of the 2022 OFC Champions League (Oceania Football Confederation) in addition to Real Madrid, winner of the 2022 UEFA Champions League.
