"The players have given a positive image of Moroccan and African football. They have shown the world the new identity of the African game, through their excellent performance during this World Cup," Regragui said at a press conference after the defeat of the Moroccan team against France (0-2), Wednesday night in the semi-finals.
"HM King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people are proud of this historic journey of the Moroccan team at the World Cup," he said, noting that "the national team has forced the respect of all."
After stressing that the Atlas Lions have delivered a great match against the defending world champions, Regragui expressed his regret at not being able to realize the dream of Moroccans and the public that have encouraged the players throughout this competition.
"We made too many technical mistakes in the first half. In the second half, we were more skilful, we lost fewer balls, we caused them problems, we created many situations but we were not decisive in the 30 meters", he added.
Regarding the third-place play-off, scheduled for Saturday against Croatia, the national coach said that the Moroccan team will aim for victory, noting that "this game, although difficult, will be an opportunity to bring in new players."
