Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch hailed Morocco's great achievement in the World Cup, stressing that the Atlas Lions have given a lesson in perseverance by qualifying for the semifinals of the 2022 tournament in Qatar, becoming the first Arab and African team to reach this stage.
Speaking on Monday at the beginning of the monthly session of questions to the Head of Government in the House of Representatives, Akhannouch recalled that the great performance of the Atlas Lions has been welcomed by heads of state who expressed their congratulations to HM King Mohammed VI following this historic achievement.
He also praised the efforts made by the players, Coach Hoalid Regragui, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and all those who contributed to the achievement of this historic achievement.
Morocco have qualified for the semifinals of the World Cup (Qatar 2022), after beating Portugal by 1 goal to 0, on Saturday in the al-Thumama stadium. The winning goal of the Atlas Lions was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute.
The Moroccan national team will face France on Wednesday in the semifinal.
