The new radio station, accessible on RadioGnaoua.ma, as well as through an app available on both Play Store and Apple Store, is MAP's new contribution to the national media landscape's effervescence, going in line with national musical heritage's plural identity and richness.

Initially a trance and a spirit possession ritual, Gnaoua art has become a music of the world capable of merging with the most demanding genres of music like Jazz. "Tagnawite" has lately enjoyed a worldwide popularity thanks mainly to Essaouira Gnaoua Festival.

In the footsteps of Reggae, it is more than a mere music but a way of living-togetherness…a vision of the world.

Originally, the Gnaoua music tended to liberate the speech of Islamized sub-Saharan slaves in Morocco. The spirit possession ritual is a musical crescendo at an increasingly lively tempo, accompanied by the fumigation of benzoin, with approximately six distinct stations recognizable by their chromatic values: black, blue, red, white, green and yellow.

Nowadays, this widely creolized culture is open to the world and has become “secularized”, which makes it very attractive to many musicians, namely African-Americans

This new radio station joins eleven music web radios already launched by MAP, in an unprecedented move to diversify its cultural products in line with its founding text and with the pluralism and richness of the national heritage and Moroccan traditions.

Accessible via a website and mobile applications on Android and iOS, these web radios, which offer a rich and varied musical platform, concern classical Arabic music (www.tarabradio.ma), Moroccan eternal (radiomaloulou.ma), Andalusian music (radioandalousies.ma), Amazigh music (radiotamazgha.ma), popular music (worldofaita.ma), samâa music (radiosamaa.ma) and youth music (dibradio.ma), "Radio Hassani", "Malhouniates", "Radio Oumkalthoum" and "Radio Hal" (Ghiwanie voice).

Through these radio products, MAP ensures to satisfy all tastes and continues to make its contribution, according to an insightful vision, to safeguard the richness and diversity of all forms of cultural expression Moroccan, thus giving substance to the text and spirit of the Constitution of 2011 on cultural diversity.
