This event is part of the commitment of the two embassies as members of the "Network of Sports Embassies" founded in 2019 and whose purpose is to encourage in Morocco the practice of sport in professional and institutional settings, said a statement by the organizers.
The race, initiated with the support of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation and other entities, was an opportunity for the international and local community of Rabat to meet and bring to life the values carried by the UN that recognizes sport as a tool for development and peace, according to the same source.
Peace Run Rabat is a free, symbolic and solidarity race, organized with the support of the Wilaya of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region.
The 500 participants ran a 6 kilometer course through several emblematic sites of Rabat.
"For Switzerland, this event echoes its election on June 9, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2023-24) which will allow it to highlight its assets in favor of peace and security," said the statement.
For Denmark, added the same source, this event also marks the Danish Constitution Day, June 5, a day when all Danes celebrate democracy, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly.
