"After the remarkable rebound of 7.9 percent recorded in 2021, the national economy growth is expected, according to Bank Al-Maghrib projections, to slow down to 1 percent this year and then accelerate to 4 percent in 2023" said the Central Bank in a statement issued at the end of the second 2022 quarterly meeting of its Board.
Due to adverse weather conditions, grain production would decline in 2022, according to estimates of the Department of Agriculture, by 69% to 32 million quintals (Mqx), recalls the same source.
The statement further specified that the agricultural value added should thus fall of 15% this year before improving of 12,9% in 2023 under the assumption of an average cereal harvest of 75 Mqx.
As regards the non-agricultural activities, their growth should be consolidated at 3.8%, favored by the easing of the sanitary restrictions, and would find its tendency rhythm in 2023 with a progression of 2,8 %, estimates BAM.
