The Moroccan driver, who drives for the Belgian Comtoyou Team Audi Sport, won the race on a 25.378-kilometer track with 87 corners, which is considered one of the most difficult tracks of the 2022 WTCR (May 26-28).
Bennani, driving an RS 3 LMS, recently finished in the top 10 of the FIA World Touring Car Cup at the Pau-Ville circuit in France.
"It was the ride of my life. I had a very good teammate (Gilles Magnus) in front of me to give me a nice wake! The car looks very solid on this track, I think the development that Audi did with Comtoyou with a lot of testing paid off," the Moroccan driver was quoted as saying in a statement.
"For me, I just had to drive, which was not easy after a year off! But it was working well and I think the car helps a lot. I was much more surprised at the level of speed we can have in the high-speed corners. The corners are tricky, every time you are on the limit."
The WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is the pinnacle of touring car racing, featuring some of the best 'tin-top' racers in the business competing against each other using equally balanced cars complying with the popular TCR format.
