The government is making a great effort to ensure the abundance of wheat, including soft wheat used in the manufacture of flour, said Baitas, who was speaking at a press briefing after the weekly Cabinet meeting.
The government subsidy for this vital commodity to reach the mills at a price of 260 dh the quintal has increased significantly, he said, adding that it has risen from 71 dh last January to nearly 200 dh the quintal currently.
Baitas assured that the government will continue to subsidize this essential commodity in the national food system to support the purchasing power of citizens, despite the high cost due to the current international situation.
Morocco is supplied with this commodity from various markets, said the Minister, noting that the national stock of wheat covers nearly four months of consumption.
