This protocol, signed by HCAR High Commissioner Mustapha El Ktiri and WHI Director-General Michel Jaupart, aims to promote better knowledge and understanding of the two kingdoms' history and culture.
Specifically, this partnernship aims to establish a relationship between technical teams and scientific researchers, in order to share and exchange information, knowledge and professional expertise in various fields such as historical research, conservation, restoration, collection management, library and archive management, among others.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Morocco's Ambassador to Belgium Mohamed Ameur and Belgium's Minister of State and MP André Flahaut.
The protocol also focuses on the development of specific cooperation programs between the two parties, including the exchange and joint implementation of temporary exhibitions, publications and the organization of scientific symposiums and cultural events.
El Ktiri stressed, on this occasion, the importance of this partnership which will add a new stone to the building of the common historical Moroccan-Belgian memory that the two countries are working to preserve and enhance for future generations.
This event opens new prospects for cooperation between the two Belgian and Moroccan institutions, he noted, ensuring that the HCAR intends to give this convention its real significance in the promotion of exemplary relations and quality between the two kingdoms.
"We are determined to make every effort to achieve the objectives of this agreement and to develop the axes of cooperation aimed at a better knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of both parties," he said.
For the director general of the WHI, this is an "important moment" that offers the opportunity to deepen the work of memory between Morocco and Belgium.
Recalling that this partnership is part of a long work started in 2019, before being interrupted by the COVID-19 crisis, Jaupart stressed that this cooperation "allows us to gather around the shared memory between the Moroccan and Belgian fighters in the two world wars."
