These figures, who took part in the 10th solemn chapter of the Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood-Morocco, stressed the importance of this event which marks the unwavering commitment of the Moroccan members of the Brotherhood in favor of humanism, pluralism and acceptance of the other, all of which are values symbolized by Gutenberg.
On this occasion, the Grand Master of the Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood, Philippe Jourdan, highlighted Morocco's richness and cultural diversity.
The Kingdom "has a diverse and very rich culture," he told MAP's 24h rolling news channel M24, saying that he was "delighted" to be back in Morocco for this 10th solemn Chapter, after a break of nearly three years.
Recalling that the Brotherhood's mission is to "bring to light figures who are involved in culture and communication," Jourdan said that new members join the Brotherhood each year. "What is great about Morocco is that there is a strong female representation," he went on.
In similar remarks, the Honorary President of the Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood/Morocco, Mohamed Berrada, noted that this association aims to promote culture and foster writing and reading, through several actions.
For his part, Mohamed El Ferrane, Director of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco (BNRM) and member of the brotherhood, noted that this solemn chapter, which brings together professionals as well as book, culture and reading enthusiasts, is an opportunity to discuss matters of common interest and to learn from each other's experiences.
The Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood/Morocco was created in April 2010 as a result of twinning with the Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood/France. It brings together writing professionals with a view to developing reading and culture through the building of a just and fraternal world.
The Gutenberg Companions Brotherhood was created in 1979 in France before expanding worldwide through twinning.
