In an article bearing the title "Umm Kulthum sings in her private radio in Morocco," the newspaper stressed that the diva of Arab song "occupies a place of choice in the hearts and minds of the Moroccan people, especially among lovers of authentic music."
This observation has remained unchanged despite the succession of singers on the art scene over the years, notes the same source, noting that Moroccans do not hide their love for the authentic Arab songs, despite the constraints and demands of modern life marked by the great technologies of the digital age.
To satisfy this Moroccan passion for the singular art of the Egyptian diva, continues the daily, the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) has launched its Radio Oum Kaltoum (French spelling) which broadcasts 24-hour-rolling music and songs from the Egyptian star's repertoire.
The radio offers its music lovers to listen and relive the most beautiful songs of the diva through a dedicated application on smartphones or via the official website of the radio, adds the media.
MAP Director General Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, quoted by the newspaper, noted that "no singer has influenced the history of Arab song as did Umm Kulthum, which was distinguished by the strength of his personality and presence, and devoted, at the expense of his private life, all his qualities to the service of Arab culture, through more than one hundred songs.
By launching Radio Oum Kaltoum, MAP intends to introduce this authentic art to new generations, thus facilitating its accessibility through modern technology, Hachimi Idrissi added, recalling that the Agency has also launched Tarab Radio.
Tarab Radio is dedicated to the classical Arab song, which has known its years of glory since the 30s, he said, noting that Cairo, which has symbolized this musical renaissance, has attracted various personalities and multiple talents from everywhere to give this art its splendor.
In addition to Tarab Radio, MAP chief cited several of the Agency's radio stations, including Radio Maloulou, dedicated to Moroccan song, and Radio Samâa, which offers a range of religious songs.
MAP's music-themed radio stations also include Radio des Andalousies for Andalusian songs, Radio Malhouniates for the authentic art of Malhun, Radio Tamazgha, among many others which have been successful beyond all expectations.
This is not only nostalgia, but also an effort to transmit ideas, emotions, texts and dreams to all future generations, so that the unique taste of Arab art is always shared, Hachimi Idrissi added.
