This event, whose program was presented Monday at the residence of the Ambassador of Peru in Rabat, in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps of Spanish-speaking countries accredited to Morocco, and the director of the Cervantes Institute in Rabat, will bring together a host of writers from Spanish-speaking countries, in addition to Moroccan academics specializing in Spanish literature.

The program of this edition, whose organization is planned in virtual mode, includes conferences, symposia and roundtables on the novel "Pedro Páramo" by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo (April 19), "Paraguayan bilingualism: historical context and contributions of Guarani to the Spanish language" and "Indigenism, José María Arguedas and native languages in Peruvian literature" (April 20).

This edition will also be marked by the presentation of the Arabic translation of the book "Rimas" (Rhymes) by the Spanish writer Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, as well as a round table on books in times of pandemic, organized by the Cervantes Institute in Rabat, with the participation of Moroccan Spanish-speaking novelists.

In addition, this event will feature a literary meeting under the theme "a poet in prose: on the origins of poetry" (April 21), a symposium on women's literature and a conference under the theme "The Vallenata music: origin, narration and language" (April 22).

The week of the Spanish language will be closed Saturday, April 23 with a reading of the novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes.

The celebration of this week is an initiative of the Embassies of Spanish-speaking countries accredited to Morocco, namely Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Venezuela, in partnership with the Cervantes Institute.
