This new solidarity operation will benefit poor people from Jerada and neighboring municipalities in the province of Jerada, known by a predominance of respiratory diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and poisoning caused by silicone, said a statement by the Foundation.
The campaign will be implemented on two sites of intervention: the Provincial Hospital of Jerada where 250 beneficiaries of cataract surgery will be taken care of, and the El Amal place, the central square of Jerada which will host the caravan of multidisciplinary primary care. A wide range of consultations and care in general and specialized medicine, accompanied by screening and fitting of people with physical disabilities as well as delivery of drugs, will be available to the beneficiary populations, added the same source.
Conducted in partnership with the Provincial Health Delegation of Jerada, the Regional Health Directorate of Oujda, the University Hospital of Oujda, the Higher Center for Nursing and Technical Health Professions of Oujda (ISPITS), the medical association AMMS - Moroccan Medical Association of Solidarity, the Mohammed VI National Center for the Disabled of Salé and the local authorities, the operation called for significant human and technical resources.
A team of 101 doctors (12 surgeons, 13 general practitioners and 76 specialists) from the public health services (Oujda University Hospital, CNMH and Jerada Provincial Hospital) and from the private sector in Oujda, 30 nurses and technicians as well as 8 social workers were mobilized in order to guarantee a free quality medical care.
As for technical means, in addition to the 7 mobile units and the pharmacy that are deployed by the Foundation, 4 additional mobile units have been provided by the AMMS (1 ophthalmic surgery unit) and the Regional Health Directorate of Oujda (3 units: ophthalmology, gynecology and mammography) besides the operating theatres of the Provincial Hospital of Jerada, concluded the statement.
