The athletes will start the competition in the waters of the Bay of Tangier for a 1.9 km swimming loop and then move on to the 90 km cycling course, one of the fastest of the IRONMAN 70. 3 circuits, passing by the Merkala Corniche, Jbel Kbir, Cap Spartel, the Hercules Caves and the Diplomatic Forest, and then returning by the same route to Villa Harris, before crossing the finish line near the Tangier Marina, according to data published on the IRONMAN 70.3 portal.
The 21 km run will be organized in a closed circuit along Mohammed VI Avenue, passing through the Marina of Tangier to Villa Harris, with the backdrop of the Marina.
"Tangier, a mythical city steeped in history, promises an exotic journey with delicious oriental flavors. This white city shines with its historical and cultural heritage and changes its face according to the winds and currents," said the organizers.
"The IRONMAN 70.3 Tangier will be an exceptional race, which offers the opportunity to contemplate the meeting point of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean," they added, inviting participants to exceed their limits, discover Tangier, a fascinating city with a thousand identities, and enter the legend.
In this context, the Mayor of Tangier, Mounir Laymouri, held Friday a working meeting with representatives of the Organizing Committee to review the preparations for this competition.
This meeting was an opportunity for both parties to examine possible means of support to ensure the success of this competition, which will be held for the second time in Morocco, after its first edition held in Marrakech in 2019.
Tangier was chosen to host this sporting event because of its exceptional geographic location and its extensive infrastructure.
This event will also be an opportunity to promote the city's tourist appeal and attract athletes from around the world.
"The organization of an event of this magnitude is an added value for Morocco and the city at several levels, including tourism, especially since it will bring together more than 2,300 participants from 70 countries, including 350 Moroccan athletes, which will promote triathlon in Morocco," said the municipality of Tangier.
