Burkinabe cinema is the guest of honor at this 22nd edition, with the screening of five movies directed by renowned Burkinabe filmmakers.
During this new edition, 13 feature films will be in the official competition (fiction category) and 7 films will compete in the Documentary Films category, the Foundation of the Khouribga International African Film Festival pointed out, noting that this 22nd edition marks the opening of the festival for the first time on documentary films.
The event will pay a posthumous tribute to Nour Eddine Saïl, the former president of the festival foundation and to two great figures of African cinema: the Delegate General of the Pan-African Television and Film Festival (Fespaco), Soma Ardiouma, and Moroccan actor and director Mohamed Choubi.
In the "Panorama" category, five Moroccan films will be screened to the general public in several cultural centers in the region. This edition will also see the organization of a symposium on film production in Africa and another on cinema and the integration of African migrants.
The event, whose first edition dates back to 1977, is considered as one of the oldest film festivals in Morocco.
