During this visit, organized by the Council of the Souss-Massa region, these diplomats were informed on the main structuring projects undertaken in the region in the economic, social and cultural areas.
The first day of this two-day trip was marked by the organization of a meeting during which information was provided on the flagship sectoral programs and investment opportunities offered by the region in several sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, tourism and culture.
Speaking on this occasion, the President of the Council of the Souss-Massa region, Karim Achengli, said that this visit is part of the strategy aiming at promoting territorial attractiveness and openness to the world conducted by the Souss-Massa region, in order to develop dialogue, share expertise and develop territories.
He also noted that cooperation and partnership have provided effective and useful support to the implementation of regional policies in important priority areas such as economic development, investment promotion and ecological transition of territories.
The Council of the region has undertaken several successful experiences of decentralized cooperation with foreign communities in Europe, Africa and Asia, which have been strengthened by the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and partnership agreements concerning various areas, in the framework of the strategic directions of the Souss-Massa region, Achengli stressed.
For his part, the President of the Diplomatic Foundation, Abdelati Habek, underlined that this visit is part of parallel diplomacy, which provides for organizing a series of trips, meetings and field visits for ambassadors accredited to Rabat in all regions of the Kingdom, adding that these trips offer diplomats the opportunity to see the socio-economic development in Morocco, especially in the light of the implementation of the New Development Model.
For his part, the ambassador of Cameroon and dean of the diplomatic corps in Morocco, Mouhamadou Youssifou, highlighted the importance of this visit which is, according to him, an opportunity to strengthen communication links in order to explore future opportunities of cooperation, partnership and investment in the Souss-Massa region.
The delegation brings together ambassadors from Cameroon, South Africa, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Rwanda, Zambia, El Salvador, Ireland, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and the Sultanate of Oman.
This trip also includes visits to several development projects including the processing unit of seafood "Pelagic", the station of seawater desalination in Chtouka Ait Baha, in addition to trips to the Kasbah of Agadir Oufellah, the Technopark of Souss-Massa and the Marina of Agadir.
