In an address on this occasion, the Khalifa General of the Tariqa Tijaniyya in Nigeria welcomed the excellent level of the solid and long-standing relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Nigeria, saying he was proud and satisfied with this visit that comes to strengthen and consolidate the ties between the two countries.
After reviewing the spiritual and fraternal relations deeply rooted between Morocco and Nigeria, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi highlighted the contribution of the Sheikhs of the Tariqa Tijaniyya in Nigeria in the dissemination of the precepts of the Maliki rite and the Achaarite dogma, as well as the values of Sunni Sufism, as constant values which characterize the practice of religion in the Kingdom.
Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said in this sense that more than 40 million followers of the Tariqa Tijaniyya in Nigeria are firmly committed to strengthening relations between the two countries.
On this occasion, the Khalifa General of the Tariqa Tijaniyya in Nigeria visited the various dependencies of the Al-Quaraouiyine Library, which contains an exceptional documentary heritage and is among the oldest libraries in Morocco.
In a statement to the press, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi expressed his thanks and gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI for the opportunity to visit the Al-Quaraouiyine University, a source of dissemination of religious sciences in Nigeria.
He also stressed that the Sufi brotherhoods, the Maliki rite and the Achaarite dogma have been introduced in Nigeria from Morocco, expressing the hope that this visit raises bilateral relations to a higher level.
For his part, president of Al-Quaraouiyine University, Amal Jalal said in a statement to the press that this visit is part of strengthening the joint action between Morocco and West Africa, recalling that these spiritual ties between the Kingdom and this African region were the origin of the arrival of Islam in these countries.
These links, he added, have been consolidated over time by the visits made by students from these countries in Morocco, including the Al-Quaraouiyine University.
