During a meeting held Monday in Rabat, the Moroccan minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Aloaui, and the EBRD Secretary General, Kazuhiko Koguchi, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) relating to the organization of the 2022 annual meeting of the Bank in Marrakech.
On this occasion, Fettah Alaoui welcomed the holding in Marrakech of this 31st session, which demonstrates, once again, "the confidence that Morocco enjoys with its international partners, especially in its ability to host and organize events of international importance."
In this regard, the minister praised the preparation progress and the quality of collaboration between the ministry team and the Bank's, reassuring the mobilization of all necessary means to ensure the success of this event, which will be one of the first international institutional events organized in Morocco after the pandemic crisis.
The Moroccan minister also highlighted the importance for the Kingdom to host all EBRD governors and all participants in this meeting.
She further highlighted the quality of relations between Morocco and the EBRD and the support provided by the Bank since 2012 to the economic development efforts of the Kingdom.
In this respect, Fettah Alaoui said that this event is an opportunity to review the activity of the bank and more specifically the partnerships between the EBRD and Morocco, as well as the great achievements made over the past 10 years, especially in terms of support to the private sector.
In addition, she stressed the Moroccan government's readiness to continue efforts to further develop cooperation with the Bank.
For his part, Koguchi said that the EBRD's annual meeting is an opportunity to demonstrate the Bank's commitment to the countries in which it operates and to discuss ways to strengthen their economies, especially after two years of pandemic and the current international crisis.
Holding the EBRD event in Morocco is a testament to "the resilience of this country and will highlight its attractiveness as a business hub and tourist destination," he added.
The EBRD's annual meeting is an event held annually in one of the 38 countries in which the Bank invests. It is attended by official delegations led by the ministers responsible for the economy and finance, personalities from the world of business and international finance and representatives of civil society.
