These acts caused material damage to several facilities inside the stadium, said a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), adding that several elements of the police and auxiliary forces were injured and several vehicles damaged.
Security operations launched by the police in the wake of these acts led to the arrest of 160 people, including 90 minors, for their alleged involvement in sport-related acts of violence, carrying knives, drunkenness, throwing stones, degradation of public and private property, in addition to setting fire to vehicles.
Following these acts, 85 police officers were injured to varying degrees, including 63 who were rushed into Ibn Sina University Hospital Center, 14 admitted to the Specialties Hospital and 8 others to the military hospital in Rabat, the statement added, stressing that a medical staff reporting to the DGSN Health Services Inspectorate supervises the follow-up of their hospitalization and provides them with the necessary medical assistance.
According to the same source, 18 elements of the auxiliary forces were also injured, while 57 supporters who were wounded and received the necessary medical care on the spot.
The other injured were transported to various hospitals in Rabat, the statement read.
Stadium facilities and outbuildings were degraded and a motorcycle burned, the statement noted, adding that 33 vehicles belonging to the police and individuals, parked outside the stadium, were also damaged.
All of the individuals arrested were subjected to the procedures of the judicial inquiry ordered by the competent public prosecutor's office to locate the levels and degrees of involvement of each of them and to identify all the people involved in the perpetration of these criminal acts, as surveillance camera footage continues to be reviewed to identify the other individuals involved, the statement concluded.
