In a speech at the opening of the ceremony, Nour-Eddine Aboudihaj, co-founder of the MBCN, said that this initiative aims "to reward the efforts and hard work done by Moroccans in the United Kingdom and which often goes unnoticed."
The association organized this event to create an environment where Moroccans can meet each other and where younger people can look to community role models who have made their way despite all the difficulties, he added.
All the people awarded today "have made enormous contributions to the welfare of others," said Aboudihaj.
Thus, Malika Hamiddou, who has devoted her life to teaching, community work and support for people in difficulty, won the award for the best achievement in support of the Moroccan community in Britain.
