During this meeting, the two sides welcomed the excellent relations between Morocco and the European Union and reviewed various topics of common interest, said a statement from the Moroccan ministry.
On this occasion, Fettah Alaoui, quoted by the release, welcomed the efforts made by the EU under its "Economic Investment Plan", while stressing that the axes of cooperation selected for Morocco are fully aligned with the priorities of the government.
She also recalled the importance of financial support granted by the European Union to Morocco and invited the European Commission to further strengthen its commitments under the future 2021-2027 programme.
The minister highlighted some of the priority projects undertaken by the government in social protection, education and health, among other social fields.
The discussions also focused on the strategies pursued by Morocco in terms of boosting domestic and foreign private investment, public sector reform and in the areas of energy transition and water, the statement said.
At the end of the meeting, Fettah Alaoui and Várhelyi reaffirmed their common desire to further strengthen cooperation between Morocco and the European Commission and accelerate the implementation of programs selected in this framework.
Visiting Morocco on March 9 and 10, Várhelyi was accompanied at this meeting by Patricia Pilar Llombart Cussac, EU Ambassador to Morocco, together with representatives of the European Commission and the European Union delegation in Morocco.
