In a statement issued the day after the audience granted by the Sovereign to the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, COMADER stressed that "HM the King, as part of His high concern for the rural population in general and the agricultural sector in particular, has given His high instructions to take all necessary and urgent measures to combat the effects of the rainfall deficit recorded during this agricultural season."
The statement said that all the presidents of agricultural federations and associations affiliated to COMADER highly welcome this royal initiative and express their total mobilization behind the Sovereign and their unconditional commitment to work tirelessly to achieve the objectives of the new 'Generation Green 2020-2030' development strategy of the agricultural sector, launched in February 2020 by HM the King and which aims to achieve food self-sufficiency in agricultural products.
It added that the government has developed an exceptional program to promote agricultural activity and help farmers in this difficult situation.
The same source noted that this exceptional program is endowed with an overall financial envelope estimated at MAD 10 billion, including a contribution of about MAD 3 billion from the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development.
This program is based on three aspects, relating to the protection of animal and plant capital and the management of water scarcity, agricultural insurance and the alleviation of financial burdens on farmers and professionals and the financing of operations to supply the domestic market in wheat and fodder, in addition to the financing of innovative investments in the field of irrigation.
