This agreement, signed followng talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva, is "important" as Moroccans wishing to work in Portugal will be able to do so under "very favorable" conditions, Sekkouri told reporters.

This is a balanced agreement, he stressed, noting that Moroccan workers will enjoy, from now on, the same working conditions and social security as Portuguese workers in their country, which is "an important and essential achievement."

In addition, Sekkouri highlighted the government's work, in particular that of the Ministry of Economic Inclusion, through the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC), to ensure practical support to these workers.

The Minister, furthermore, welcomed the signing of such an agreement with a friendly country that has held distinguished diplomatic relations with Morocco throughout history, adding that these relations receive special attention from HM King Mohammed VI and the President of Portugal.

This agreement aims to meet the growing demand of Moroccan workers to benefit from employment opportunities in the Portuguese economic fabric and to define the procedures for admission and residence applied to this category.

It also seeks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of management of regular migration flows.
