"The Green March is a Moroccan feature about stories of ordinary Moroccan people who went for a peaceful March in November 1975. The 350.000 volunteers March was called by the king Hassan II to recover the Moroccan Sahara," according to the Festival’s website.
The film also explores the role and importance of women’s voices in this peaceful March in which 3500 women participated, the same source adds.
This movie by Youssef Britel traces this glorious epic from the point of view of various characters, played, among others, by Mourad Zaoui, Mohammed Choubi, Mohammed Khouyi, Nadia Niazi, Saadia Azgoun and Driss Roukhe.
Organized by multiple Oscar-nominated filmmaker Jim Sheridan and director Zahara Moufid, the Festival is being held online for the second year in a row to comply with health restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
