COVID-19: 90 New Cases, Over 24,43 Mln People Receive First Vaccine Dose

Rabat - A total of 90 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 85 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said Sunday.

In its daily briefing on the pandemic, the Ministry noted that the number of people who have received their first Covid-19 vaccine reached 24,431,938 and those who got two jabs amounted to 22,706,131, while 1,760,279 people received their booster shot.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus stands at 950,591, while recoveries rise to 932,920, i.e. a recovery rate of 98.1%.

The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (38), Rabat-Salé-Kenitra (23), Marrakech-Safi (10), Fez-Meknes (08), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (04), Souss-Massa (03), Eastern Region (02), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (01) and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (01).

As for coronavirus-related fatalities, they rose to 14,788 (fatality rate of 1.6%) with one case reported in Casablanca-Settat.

The number of active cases stands at 2,883, including 103 people in a critical or severe condition, the ministry said.
