Organized by the Archives of Morocco, in partnership with the Essaouira-Mogador Association which entrusted the archives of the deceased to the Institution, the exhibition was enhanced by the presence of the Advisor to HM the King and president-founder of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, André Azoulay.
This event, which will run until March 6, 2022, is a contribution to the valorization of one of the greatest scholars of Moroccan Judaism, Haïm Zafrani. It traces, in fragments, his academic career, his works and his private life.
On the academic side, the place of Haïm Zafrani is central. He is a thinker who was present both in Morocco and abroad, "carrying very high the torch of the Kingdom throughout the world, notably in Argentina, Brazil and Israel," said the director of the Archives of Morocco, Jamaa Baida, in a statement to M24, the news channel of the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).
Haïm Zafrani was strongly present in the intellectual milieu with nearly fifteen books and an academic research that questions Moroccan Judaism, an integral part of the national heritage and history of Morocco, said Baida.
This exhibition is a tribute to a Moroccan who has served his country, he said, adding that the enhancement and promotion of a fund of archives is one of the prerogatives of the Archives of Morocco Institution, mainly when it comes to private archives.
