Covid-19: 53 New Cases, Over 24.4 Mln People Receive First Vaccine Dose

Rabat - A total of 53 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 148 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said Monday.

In its daily bulletin on the epidemic situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who have received the first Covid-19 vaccine reached 24,414,691, those who got two jabs amounted to 22,649,970, while 1,654,400 people had three doses.

The new reported cases bring to 949,785 the total number of infections since the first case was recorded in Morocco in March 2020, while recoveries rise to 932,133 (a recovery rate of 98.1%).

The new daily cases were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (19), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (14), Marrakech-Safi (6), Eastern region (4), Souss-Massa (3), Fez-Meknes (3), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (1), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (1), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (1) and Draa-Tafilalet (1).

The total number of deaths rose to 14,775 (case-fatality 1.6%) with one new case confirmed in the Eastern region.

The number of active cases stands at 2,877, including 103 people in a critical or severe condition.
